Martin and I have been making some decorating changes in our little place. For the past three years we have moved every year to a new place, whether it has been for school, for work, or for location. A few months ago we decided that instead of moving again we are going to stay in Westport. We love our house, we love the location, the neighborhood, and it just fits our lifestyle. We have made the house our own, have an organized garage where we can keep our camping stuff, kayaks, Martin's construction stuff, and our storage closet in the back of the garage is great. The yard is huge and we have a fire pit to relax by and a lush lawn to play bocce ball or catch on (and for those of you that just laughed, I played catch with Martin TODAY, haha).
If we want to go for a bike ride we just jump on and go...it is all residential and there are some great neighborhoods just like ours nearby so we have plenty of areas to explore. I love that we are ten minutes (if that) from the beach and everyone around here is so friendly. I love the small family owned grocery store, called Lee's Market, that is two minutes down the road. Every place that we have lived before this, in North Providence and Dartmouth, were great for our needs at the time but when we moved to Westport it was different. We have been happy here and we truly love where we live. We found out three months ago that I was getting transferred back down this way; I have been working in Warwick, RI for almost a year. Martin and I decided to really make things our own and we started by organizing our garage. That was a few months ago, then we did the guest room, and came up with some ideas for the master bedroom. Martin had an amazing idea for a headboard and has tried a few different sketches and finally decided on one in particular. Everything in our house was painted white and though it worked with our neutral color palette, I love colors that make a room that much more inviting. Last month we asked our landlord if we could paint and after browsing through Lowe's and Home Depot's color options we finally made a decision. We picked out a refreshing pale green for the master bedroom and the bathroom, and chose a relaxing and beachy blue-gray for the living room. I love the addition of color. We didn't buy very many things at all, mainly just used what we already had to re-decorate. The headboard makes the bedroom wall pop and it matches our side tables perfectly. We dug out some frames from packed boxes that we have not used in quite some time and hung those up to add a change. It has been a great project for Martin and I and it is finally pretty much done. I will post "after" pictures soon!
