We have not had the chance to visit my family's camp in Gray, Maine this year so when we received an invitation from my parents we happily agreed. We headed up to NH to stay with my parents on Thursday night and Friday afternoon we all started the 3 hour ride to the camp in Maine. The camp is on Little Sebago Lake and it holds a special place in my heart. It is not only a place that I have visited every year since I was born, but it holds countless memories of special times spent with my grandmother. It is bittersweet to go up there now without her coming out the back door to greet us or without her to bake cakes with, but our memories will always be with us. This time we were celebrating my Dad's birthday and I made one of her famous Coke cakes. It was also great to see my Grampy, who is doing great. He has found a great friend and companion in this wonderful woman named Florence who also lives on the lake, only a few houses down from the camp. We had a great time getting to know her. We took a boat ride around the lake and the foliage was beautiful. Fall up on the lake is unlike anywhere else, it truly takes your breath away. It was pretty chilly but we spent the weekend relaxing and cuddling up next to the fire with hot tea (another thing that reminds me of my Grammy) and just enjoying each other's company.
On Sunday we planned on stopping at Cape Elizabeth Two Lights Restaurant. This place used to be an annual tradition for my family. It is right on the ocean and there are two light houses that you can see, hence the name. There is a cute little store that is always fun to poke around in and there are rocks all the way down to the ocean that we used to climb all over. The restaurant has some of the best seafood ever and it has not changed much since I was little. We had a delicious dinner and then headed home after a great weekend.
