Westport Rivers Winery

We went to Westport Rivers, a local winery here in Westport, MA while Martin's mom and Ron were visiting. They specialize in sparkling wines made in the french way, not like those cheap bottles of champagne. We went on a tour that included the vineyard (from afar), the barn where all the wine-making happens, and our tour guide gave us detailed explanations of what the machines did, which was very cool to learn. They have a whole controlled-temperature room where they store the majority of their wine and they are stored in these steel baskets and get shifted when necessary during the fermenting process. We got to see how they cork and seal the bottles of wine. Then after the tour we headed back to the main house of the winery and stood at their winebar for a winetasting. We received bags of oyster crackers to cleanse our pallets in between the six wines. We tried three sparkling wines and three table wines. They were all delicious and had all kinds of aromsa, from apple and peach to berry and vanilla. We had a great time and plan to go back to the Westport Rivers Brewery next time!
