Walking Along the Cliffs of Newport

There are many weekend afternoons when we find ourselves driving to the beach, with no destination in mind, just enjoying being together. We often find ourselves in Newport, sometimes down by the piers, sometimes by the waves of the beach, and sometimes by the beautiful views of the cliffwalk.

Sunbathers, surfers, and toddlers enjoying the sunshine and the waves.

We set off along the Cliffwalk, with Sahara leading the way, and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. The sun was shining and the breeze was gentle.

We watched surfers and swimmers ride the waves.

We walked along the cliffs, looking down at the crashing surf, following the curving path.

We strolled past enormous mansions, homes from another time.

We sat on the grassy lawns and looked out at the beautiful blue ocean, loving that we had no where to be but right where we were at that moment.

We admired the architecture, the manicured lawns of the historic homes, and the old-world charm Newport is so full of.

We walked to the end of the cliffwalk and turned back, enjoying the pink and purple hues as the sun started to dip behind the clouds.

It is unplanned afternoons like these, where we stroll along the ocean, that add spontaneity to our life, this life I love oh so much.
