Long Weekend at the Cape

I just uploaded some recent pictures from our trip to the Cape two weeks ago. I had a four day weekend and had mentioned it to Rayna who came up with the brilliant idea that all four of us should go to the Cape. We were thinking fishing, kayaking, bonfires, smores, shopping, beaches, biking, and the ever famous spice store. Well, the weekend did not turn out exactly as planned...but we still had a good time. It was pretty cold out and the wind never seemed to let up. I think we were hoping summer was closer than it actually is. :-)

We all met at our place after the guys got done with work, Rayna and I went grocery shopping, and had a quick dinner at the BK down the road. Then we drove to the Murray's Cape House and settled in for the weekend. It was quite chilly when we got there since the heat had been in "hibernation mode" for the winter.

Martin had a cold but started feeling better Friday afternoon when we ventured out to go fishing. We weren't really expecting to catch anything, more of just practice. I hadn't realized how long it had been since I went fishing. It brought back some childhood memories, that's for sure. We didn't stay out for long, since it was raining, windy, and the sun seemed to be hiding behind clouds all day. We got back into the truck and Rayna and I had the idea to go to the Spice Store. I love that store! The smell is a bit overwhelming but I could spend hours in there just poking around. After the guys followed us around and asked when we were leaving about ten times, we headed back to the house for the girls to start dinner and the guys to start their fire.

I had felt sniffly all day but my monster cold really hit Saturday night. There are few times when I have felt that miserable. Sunday we went to this neat Boardwalk in Sandwich, MA and even though it was freezing it was neat to read all the engraved boards that make up this boardwalk. Very cool idea! We saw these really outrageous flying contraptions that these two guys were flying up and down the beach/boardwalk. The pictures don't show the greatest view but they looked something like a paraglider and a dune buggy combined. After we were quite numb from the cold, we stopped at the IHOP at the Bourne Bridge for lunch and headed home! We had a good time with the Bearss', as usual!

We did have a fun weekend even though it was super cold. I especially like the picture of me looking like the Michelin Man! I think I had 3 sweatshirts on at the time, in addition to my regular shirt! Lol! Good times!

Cool pictures! Even when the weather doesn't work out it's always fun to go on a mini vacation to the Cape.
