We visited Battleship Cove today, just to enjoy the brisk air, stroll along the boardwalk, and meander through the park. The days have been getting warmer and I am so very ready for spring.
The ships are bare, with no tourists scurrying about on their decks.
The seagulls were quiet and stayed tucked underneath their wings, standing strong against the ocean breeze.
The wood of the boardwalk is a bit more worn from the past few harsh winter months.
The empty benches were a reminder that winter is still here and not ready to depart with its' bitter winds and icy temperatures.
The shops remain locked behind tall wrought iron gates.
The walkways remain empty except for the seagulls who stand guard.
The trees are stately but bare and the park is still brown and scattered with frost.
The harbor boats are crisply covered with their white winter coats.
The various colored hulls peek out from their winter weather protection.
But, if you look closely there are signs of spring pushing through the dirt. These tiny green sprouts promise of beautiful tulips and warmer strolls through the park right around the corner.
And no matter what the season, the sunsets are always breathtaking.
Promising days to come with boats on the harbor, people filling the walkways, and
another beautiful spring to look forward to. It will be here before we know it:
March 20th - First Day of Spring
